This gorgeous Steam game is one for Hallow Knights fans, and best of all, you can check it out for free.

In this day and age, it’s getting increasingly more difficult to save money whenever we can, especially when it comes to our beloved hobby of playing video games. It’s why subscription services such as PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass can be so important.

Sure, we have to pay for that subscription fee; there are various tiers, but for the most part, any monthly fee is much cheaper than paying for a newly released AAA game. That being said, perhaps the best way to save money is by playing a wonderful demo.

Digital storefronts such as Steam, the PlayStation and Xbox stores, as well as the Nintendo eShop, offer tons of playable demos. Sure, they will only offer a snippet of a game, but it’s better than watching a trailer or worse, spending our money on a game that ended up being pants.

Torii looks stunning

One game in particular that you can play for free now with the aforementioned Hollow Knight vibes is called Torii (not to be confused with the UK political party), developed and published by the indie studio, Oh Baby Games.

“The spirit realm has broken. Your brother has gone missing. Forge the path you were destined for. Explore the gates and find out why there have been broken links inside the spirit realm,” reads the synopsis of the game on Steam.

“Battle, discover and find the secrets, and make new connections in a beautiful hand-drawn 2D style.”

After watching its gameplay trailer, Torii looks absolutely stunning, and as well as offering Hollow Knight vibes, it also reminds me very much of Ori and the Blind Forest from Moon Studios GmbH.

“Been looking forward to this,” said fragandgo on Twitter, replying to a tweet from the official account of the game.

“I'll be trying this out,” said Banzthehustla in the comments section on the demo trailer on YouTube.

At the time of writing, Torii does not have a confirmed release date, other than a vague early 2026 release window. But you can add it to your Steam wishlist to be notified of its launch. Hopefully, it will be released on consoles at some point, too.

Confusingly, there is currently another game called Torii that’s out now on Steam, as well as Xbox and PlayStation, from a studio called Moswig, which also looks like a decent game, to be fair.
