Steam has a new number-one wishlisted game now that Hollow Knight: Silksong is out, after so many years of waiting…
As expected, Hollow Knight Silksong has lived up to the hype and then some following its launch yesterday. The indie game broke Steam, the Nintendo eShop and even the PlayStation Store with its launch.
Now that players can finally tuck into its story it’s time for a new game to become the most anticipated game of the year, at least Steam wishlists are anything to go off.
Subnautica 2 has taken the top spot despite difficulties with its development, as well as a huge lawsuit currently underway.

Subnautica 2 is a sequel to the ocean-survival game Subnautica, which sees the player stranded on a hostile planet with a deep, deep ocean filled with treasures and terrors. You build yourself a base as well as several deep-sea exploration gadgets and vehicles as you try and find a way off the planet.
The sequel is currently in the midst of a legal battle as publisher Krafton is being sued by the game’s developer for allegedly sabotaging the early-access launch. A large outcry from fans called for a boycott of the game when it eventually launches.
Now it’s unclear when the game will finally hit storefronts, though despite its troubles Steam still lists it as the biggest hit on its Top Wishlist list.
The whole thing sounds like a bit of a mess and I sincerely hope things get sorted out in a way that’s suitable for everyone involved.

It’s a shame that fans need to wait even longer now for the game’s early-access launch, though given how many have waited for Hollow Knight: Silksong for over seven years I think the patience of gamers will have never been stronger.
For now, Subnautica 2 is the new King of wishlisted games on Steam, for however long it takes to launch.
