Life can get a bit much for us all sometimes, which is probably why we'll put hours into the likes of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Stardew Valley as we watch these colourful worlds go by.
Whether it's the world of politics or fears that climate change is going to wipe us all out, we also have to keep a roof over our heads, hold down a steady job, and balance our social lives. Sometimes, it even feels like making it out of bed and into the bathroom to brush our teeth can be a chore. Thankfully, Steam has plenty of cosy games that work just as well as taking a deep breath or screaming into the void.

Pitching itself as a "cosy old-school MMORPG built for players who love real progression, charming fantasy worlds, and the satisfying grind of classic MMOs," Stonehollow Workshops' Eterspire lets you explore the handcrafted world of Aetera.

Offering the chance to play on both PC and mobile, you complete quests and level up through grit and pure determination in a game that prides itself on shying away from pay-to-win elements. First things first, you'll need to pick your player class, deciding whether you want to head out into the unknown as a Warrior, Rogue, Guardian, Sorcerer, or Archer.
Making your way through deep forests, peaceful watery vistas, or the dangers of monster-filled dungeons, it's all combined with Eterspire's low-poly retro graphic style.
Collecting armour and weapons, you're able to create a look that is truly your own. Added to this, a cosmetic crafting system means you can turn that hard-earned gear into cosmetics that let you show off your favourite equipment styles without skewing your stats.
If you're already sold, the game's Steam reviews are equally glowing, with one fan cheering: "The most chill MMORPG I've ever played."
Another added: "Best MMO to turn off your brain and mindlessly farm."
A third concluded: "Casual, chill, classic MMORPG. The monetisation is fair, the developers behind this game fully deserve every penny they work for in my eyes."

After entering early access in September 2025, Eterspire got a full Version 1.0 release thanks to a surprise announcement at the Summer Game Fest's Latin American Games.
It's an exciting time for Eterspire, with Stonehollow just unveiling an impressive roadmap. The long-awaited Guilds system is here as you team up on a fantasy adventure, while fishing gets an overhaul, and we've been promised new chat features.
If that wasn't enough, July includes full Steam Deck verification. Although it's true Eterspire is already playable on Steam Deck, Stonehollow has given the thumbs up to a "smoother handheld experience."
As we mentioned, the fact that it's available on both PC and mobile means you can seamlessly switch between the pair to continue your quest anywhere you go.
There's plenty to keep coming back for thanks to Eterspire's bi-weekly updates, but just because we're leaving early access, that doesn't mean things are slowing down.
