Our clowning days are over, my friends.

Yesterday, Team Cherry’s long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong finally landed, breaking practically every store front going as hundreds of thousands of you clamoured to get your hands on the title.

Already, Hollow Knight: Silksong boasts an all-time player peak of 535,213 on Steam according to SteamDB which is an incredible achievement for devs.

For comparison, the original Hollow Knight only ever reached a peak of 72,916 on Steam - and that was only set two-days ago, correct at the time of writing.

It seems everyone was getting some last minute practice in, or a first playthrough driven by FOMO.

Even still, I don’t think any of us expected Silksong to set such a wild record despite all of the fanfare surrounding it.

And let’s not forget that it also will have gathered hefty player bases on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox too, especially as it’s available on Xbox Game Pass.

But I know you’re here to find out about a nice little free gift you can claim.

Team Cherry has partnered with Twitch, awarding a free ‘Hornet’ badge to those who participate in a limited-time promotion.

To earn the badge, you need to subscribe or gift a sub while watching a streamer in the Hollow Knight: Silksong category.

Do so and the ‘Hornet’ badge is yours.

Of course, subscriptions typically aren’t free so while the gift itself is, you will have to part with some cash and I don’t particularly love that Twitch is hiding this item behind a paywall.

This is a limited-time offering though; the promotion ends on 12 September at 11.59pm PT so while you do have ample time, you know how easy it is to forget to do these things.

“The badge is so cute,” remarked Twitter/X user CurlyWurdy.

“That’s neat,” added ripstter.

Naturally, some weren’t that thrilled with the set up of this freebie.

“A horrible marketing decision,” commented Imperf3ktS.

If you want it though, you know what to do.
