One of the best-looking games of 2024 is nearly upon us and you can play this gorgeous open-world RPG for free right now.

Akira Toriyama is a legend in the world of anime, and the creator of the beloved Dragon Ball series. We could perhaps consider Akira Toriyama as the Stan Lee of the anime world. Sadly, Akira Toriyama passed away recently at the age of 68. The impact of his death has hit the Dragon Ball community very hard, with the Dragon Ball series going on a hiatus following Toriyama’s passing.

However, one of the last projects that Akira Toriyama was involved with is the brand new video game from Bandai Namco, the open-world RPG Sand Land, based upon the comic manga series of the same name, also from Akira Toriyama. The Sand Land video game adaptation was announced in June 2023 and the Dragon Ball inspiration was unmistakable and it sparked mass excitement with anime fans.

“Dive into a desert world where both humans and demons suffer from an extreme water shortage - Sand Land. Meet the Fiend Prince Beelzebub, his chaperone Thief, and the fearless Sheriff Rao, and follow the team on an extraordinary adventure in search of the Legendary Spring hidden in the desert. The end is only the beginning, as beyond this arid ground lies a new realm to explore,” reads the synopsis of the game.

“In this action RPG, players will find a nostalgic and heartwarming world created by Akira Toriyama, where you will become the main character Beelzebub. Learn how to control his powers and lead your company of heroic misfits exploring the legendary world of Sand Land.”

Recently, Bandai Namco released a playable demo for Sand Land on PC (via Steam), PlayStation and Xbox. So if you think that this gorgeous open-world RPG might pique your interest, now is the perfect time to check it out.

Sand Land will be released on 26 April for PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
