Xbox gamers can play this cosy game rated 9/10 at no extra cost and lose plenty of joyful hours in the days to come.
One of the best aspects of subscribing to Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus (other than having access to hundreds of games) is discovering a delightful new game that may not have initially been on our radar. Such as the game that is the topic of this article.
The game in question is the indie title, Little Rocket Lab, developed by Teenage Astronauts.
“Transform your childhood home as you build brilliant factories and forge lifelong friendships, then reach for the skies and finally finish your family's dream - your mother's precious rocket ship,” reads the synopsis of Little Rocket Lab. “Roll up your sleeves, it turns out that saving this town really IS rocket science!”

Little Rocket Lab looks like a combination of Stardew Valley, with its cute, cosy visuals, but with the simulated world-building and management mechanics of series such as SimCity.
At the time of writing, on the PC platform Steam, it has 1,129 positive reviews and 116 negative, which is about 90% positive (ish).
“Such a fantastic game!” wrote Shroom67.
“This game was grand, and I wish all the best to the devs. I hope Little Rocket Lab does well, and you [the devs] continue making more games,” said Jevanee.
“Factorio but with cute animal people, a story, visual novel elements and an adorable dog you can throw a ball for, and he brings it back! Also, a toaster bot that carries you around. Amazing game,” declared ParaDox.
However, not all gamers had great things to say about Little Rocket Lab.
“The early and mid games are fun, but with an incredibly frustrating endgame, I ended up not finishing this. I really adore the idea of this one, but it is just too frustrating to keep playing.” BigStump explained.
“All in all, this game was a grind. What was a cute and charming beginning was marred by design choices and limitations in the late game, on top of frustrating story elements,” said Faerador.
As for the aggregate website, Metacritic, Little Rocket Lab has scored 79 from critics, and 5.3 from users. So it seems this game might be a bit hit and miss. Thankfully, it will only cost you time if you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber.
Great news, Little Rocket Lab is available right now on Xbox Game Pass, across all tiers. Happy days!
Yes, Little Rocket Lab was released on PC in October 2025, and it's coming to Nintendo Switch and the Switch 2 on 8 May 2026. At the time of writing, it has not been announced for PlayStation consoles. Hopefully, that will change in the near future.
