If you’re a fan of Grand Theft Auto, then Steam hit Schedule I: Free Sample is most definitely something I recommend you check out.

Developed by TVGS, Schedule I: Free Sample is, as you may have guessed, a free sample of the larger Schedule I release; still in its early access phase, the full title will set you back £16.75.

Free Sample offers plenty of content for you to get to grips with what this open-world action game has to offer.

Well, I say action game, but Schedule I: Free Sample is a jack of all trades.

It’s also part sandbox title, part crime game, with plenty of management and simulation traits also thrown in there.

The game is set within Hyland Point where players will “take the first steps from small-time dope pusher to kingpin”.

“Manufacture and distribute a range of drugs to reach the peak of the underworld. Now available in four-player co-op,” teases the synopsis.

As you’ve likely guessed, gameplay consists of producing and selling drugs, all whilst fending off both the law and rival cartels.

I’m imagining you can see why I recommended this one for GTA fans, huh?

The demo, since its December 2024 release, has amassed ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ reviews, with an incredible review score of 96% from its players over on Steam.

“Played this and bought the game. Highly meets your expectations. It has a pretty gripping plot,” wrote one happy player.

“A FANTASTIC demo, you get to experience some of the core gameplay that's prevalent in the main game,” added another, while one said, “Seems like a cool concept so far.”

It looks as if all reviewers have several hours of playtime under their belts, so Schedule I: Free Sample offers a generous amount of content despite its lack of price tag.

As I said, if you like what you play, you can purchase the full release which remains in early access.

It’s due to remain in early access for a couple of years.

That shouldn’t put you off from jumping in though, especially as GTA VI isn't set to arrive until 26 May 2026.

We all thought MindsEye might be the thing to tide us over in the meantime but given the pile of slop that was, perhaps it’s instead Schedule I.
