This free Steam game will ensure that you won't be touching grass for a while, but hey, in other news, the sky is blue.

Every once in a while, a charming indie game comes along and results in us willingly losing loads of hours with no end in sight. Which, to be fair, as gamers, you won't hear many of us complaining.

After all, whether we play on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo or mobile devices, nothing beats being immersed in digitised worlds regardless of the genre. I suppose you could argue that the real world beats a digital world, but that’s an argument for another day.

Anyway, let’s get back on track. So, what is this game that could potentially result in us losing loads of hours? That very game is called PurrPlate, and it’s a casual sim game with cats, and that’s all you really need to know.

However, for the benefit of relevant information, I will provide details on the aforementioned PurrPlate, developed and published by LeankomGames. Oh, and by the way, it has a free playable demo available right now, which is important.

“PurrPlate – craft your wholesome feline picnic paradise! Come and build your dream PurrPlate,” reads the synopsis of the game on Steam.

“In this sunlit feline paradise, become the owner of a one-of-a-kind restaurant designed with your dream 'PurrPlate'. Team up with over 100+ quirky cat staffers--from paw-kneading bakers to servers tumbling adorably over their own tails--to create your purrfect woodland café!”

In the free playable demo, it will teach you all the mechanics and gameplay features of PurrPlate so that you can build your puuurfect restaurant and recruit up to 23 cat employees, as well as get a sample of the game's story.

On its dedicated Steam page, the developers state that they intend to update the demo so that you’re ready to go once the full game is released.

There are no Steam user reviews at this moment for PurrPlate, but hopefully, the demo is as fun as the trailer leads us to believe. I guess there’s only one way to find out.

At the time of writing, PurrPlate does not have a solid release date, other than it is intended to arrive at some point later this year. That’s assuming it suffers no delay.

In the meantime, be sure to add PurrPlate to your Steam wishlist to be notified as soon as that release date drops.
