Prepare to have flashbacks of the 1990s, all thanks to this free Steam game that you can download and play right now.

When I say prepare for flashbacks of the 1990s, you might not have been alive back then, and if so, you may have merely been knee-high to a grasshopper. However, if you do have memories of the 90s, there’s a good chance that you might be familiar with certain old-school Windows games on PC.

The 1990s were a glorious time for PC gaming, gifting us with the likes of DOOM, SimCity 2000, Lemmings, Command & Conquer, Half-Life and much more. It really was a golden age of gaming.

Yet, there were a couple of other popular PC games, which were lower-budget than the ones mentioned above, and they came free with various Windows operating systems. The games in question are Minesweeper and Solitaire.

If you do have fond memories from either of those games, there’s a good chance that you remember a parent or grandparent hogging the PC while you were agonisingly waiting to jump on the good-old, dial-up internet that took forever and a day to boot up. Good times.

Thankfully, there are many iterations of Solitaire and Minesweeper that you can still play today, but in relation to this story, it’s an iteration of that card game that a senior family member would never stop hogging.

The game in question is an indie title called Flick Solitaire, developed and published by the on the nose, Flick. Best of all, you can download it for free right now.

“Flick is solitaire in full slay mode. Play classic games like Klondike, Spider, and Pyramid, powered by jaw-dropping indie art from real artists, killer animations, and a vibe that hits every single time,” reads the description of the game on Steam.”Whether you’ve got three minutes or three hours, it’s pure solo bliss—just you, the cards, and zero distractions.”

At the time of writing, Flick Solitaire has a “Positive” user review rating on Steam, aggregated from 14 write-ups.

“I’ve been waiting for this one to be released. I’ve never clicked on a notification so fast. I’m already obsessed, no complaints,” said Mattias56.

“I’ve been playing for years on mobile and I’m so happy to see it here too,” wrote Flowers, giving the game its flowers.

“The card art is beautiful, and it's so lovely to see artists being supported, and the flicking is smooth and satisfying as always,” explained Kajo.

So, what are you waiting for? Download the game to see what all the fuss is about.
