While it pales compared to the newer sequel, it was a great game for its time and is worth a revisit now. After all, when do you get to kill zombies in a holiday paradise?

The combat here is brutal, bloody, and brilliant, while the story is just the right amount of over-the-top nonsense, which, let’s be honest, is exactly what you want from a game full of the walking dead. Dead Island Riptide originally came out in 2016, so while it won’t feel innovative, at the time it was doing a lot of things differently and players responded well. If all you want is some mindless action, then you’re covered here. Get out there and bash some brains in!
