If you’re in search of something new to try out this weekend then I’d love to direct your attention towards the upcoming adventure title Mayday: The Survival Island.
Think of this one as combining the pixel art and farming elements of Stardew Valley with the whimsy of a wholesome RPG franchise like The Legend of Zelda.
Developed by Pequi Studios and set to be published by indie.io, Mayday: The Survival Island perhaps rather unsurprisingly sees players awaken stranded on a strange island.
There, they’ll need to hunt, farm, and craft in order to survive, alongside exploring ancient ruins filled with secrets.

“Build your base, uncover the truth, and escape - if you can,” the synopsis teases.
This enormous hand-crafted pixel art world consists of a whopping 24 unique islands, each with its own distinct environment, resources, and challenges.
In a bid to survive, players will travel from “sun-bleached beaches” to “ancient cemeteries and forgotten ruins”, so the game should constantly feel new and fresh.
Of course, you’ll need to adapt to the dangers of each biome so it’s important that you craft good weapons.

There’s no linear path or forced objective in Mayday: The Survival Island, so it’s up to you to determine how the story unfolds.
Throughout your journey, you’ll find fragments of a lost civilisation, with devs teasing that “you’re being watched”.
“Every action, from gathering food to defeating powerful guardians may reveal pieces of the truth.”
Back home at your base, you’ll be able to partake in some cosier activities, tending to crops and raising animals.

While Mayday: The Survival Island lacks a release date, devs have launched a free demo over on Steam which you can download and sample now.
From what I can see, that demo should occupy you for at least a couple of hours, which is pretty generous considering it's a small slice of the full release.
Of course, it goes without saying, if you like what you’re hearing with this game, give it a wishlist!
I’m certain the devs will appreciate your support.
