If you were after a cosy game to play during a cold evening, then look no further than this free Steam demo.
As much as we love partaking in our favourite hobby of playing video games, it can get expensive, very expensive. It’s why subscription services such as PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass can be great ways of saving money.
That being said, with the prices of PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass always on the rise, the way it’s heading, it might not be a cheaper option. Especially when you consider Microsoft’s recent 50% price hike.
However, when subscription services simply won't do, at least we have access to free playable demos, regardless of whether we play on PC, PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo.

What’s more, despite only offering a small portion of a game, free playable demos usually provide us with the best indication as to whether a release is worth parting with our hard-earned cash.
One such game is an indie title, developed and published by Third Pie Studios, and it's the cosy strategy sim, Ages of Cataria.
“Ages of Cataria is a cosy story generation game. Every story begins with a family embarking and then settling in a new land called Cataria,” reads the synopsis of the game on Steam.
“Here, the villagers will have to build out their comforts and find their roles in this new society. Over time, others will join your settlement, and some will find love and start new families around town. Experience these generational stories as your villagers age over time.”

Judging by its gameplay trailer, it looks like Ages of Cataria has the potential to be a fun game.
“This is everything I've ever wanted in a village management game. I'm beyond excited for this, thank you for all your hard work!” said chaoluv041, in the comments section on YouTube.
“It looks beautiful,” declared PsychoDelisS.
“This game is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. I want to get my hands on it now,” exclaimed jessamica92.

“BRING IT TO CONSOLES, PLEASE!” yelled josephmurphy8213.
At the time of writing, Ages of Cataria does not have a release date, but the developers intend for it to enter its early access phase on Steam soon. By the looks of its YouTube channel, it seems like it’s been in development for a few years already.
In the meantime, you can not only add Ages of Cataria to your Steam wishlist, but you can also download and play its free demo today. Happy days!
