With the nights drawing in here in the UK, cosy season is well and truly underway.

But don’t worry if the sun is shining where you are; cosy season can merely be a state of mind.

If you’re someone with a penchant for snuggling up under a blanket with a warm drink and a charming little game, you’ve come to the right place.

Indie studio Aroko Game Studio has launched a brand new free downloadable demo on PC storefront Steam for their upcoming release Packing Life, and it looks positively delightful.

If you’ve played the hit game Unpacking, this is essentially the opposite of that.

Instead of unpacking belongings, you’ll actually be tasked with packing things up.

“A cosy and satisfying puzzle-simulation game where you step into the role of a warehouse worker with a knack for perfectly organising and packing orders,” the synopsis reads.

“With charming visuals, relaxing gameplay, and a lighthearted story, experience the joy of transforming everyday tasks into a fulfilling adventure.”

You’ll need to rotate items in order to fit them into boxes as you’ve only got so much space on offer for each order.

Once you’ve finished figuring out how to fit everything into the box, it’s time to seal it up and send it on its jolly way.

Along the way, you’ll apparently “experience a heartfelt story, unlock new items” as well as the ability to customise your workspace.

That story revolves around the player character yearning for a better future, with each package revealing “small yet meaningful moments”.

There’s a lovely pastel aesthetic to the game, so it’s very easy on the eye, and there’s a relaxing soundtrack accompanying the experience.

As for personalising your workstation, players will be able to pick from various colour themes, creating a little hub that feels very you.

What’s on offer in the demo?

The free demo offers access to “an early look at the game’s rhythm and progression” although no exact runtime has been provided.

I can’t imagine Packing Life is that long of a game so I’m going to hazard a guess that it might be on the shorter side.

If you do like what you play then you should definitely wishlist the game as I know the indie devs will most definitely appreciate that.

If you want to pledge your support beyond that, you can actually back Packing Life’s Kickstarter campaign where pledgers will earn early access rewards including full-game access to Packing Life before the public release.
