Steam Next Fest is well underway, and it means we have plenty of free game demos to try and get through.
And if you’re after something that is almost guaranteed to give you a good time, this latest free offering available during Steam Next Fest is worth a go.
Opus: Prism Peak is an upcoming adventure game where you play as a weary photographer on an adventure with a girl who’s lost her memories. It’s a game that combines Studio Ghibli vibes with photography and puzzle gameplay mechanics.
Judging from screenshots and the trailer, which can be seen on the game’s official Steam page, the graphics look absolutely stunning, and it looks like it’ll be a great experience for those who enjoy slower, calmer experiences.

It’s part of the Opus series, a franchise consisting of 2D space-themed narrative adventure games with light puzzle elements. While the series has traditionally been two-dimensional, Prism Peak will be the first 3D game in the series.
A demo for Opus: Prism Peak is available now on Steam as part of Next Fest, and it’s drummed up a lot of hype due to positive reviews. As of writing, the demo currently has 98% positive ratings.
“I can't wait for this game I am currently a photographer myself and I started to tear up toward the end of this demo I would love to know more about the story,” reads one positive user review of the demo on Steam.
“The previous game in the series, Opus: Echo of Starsong, was already a masterpiece and this demo seems to promise even better,” reads another review. “Technologically speaking, the game has made a huge jump from Starsong, I cannot wait to experience the story in full!”

“Incredible demo. Simply cannot wait for the full game,” reads a third review.
It sounds like Opus: Prism Peak might be one to check out while the demo is still available, and is worth popping onto your wishlist if you end up enjoying it.
Some users have stated that Prism Peak doesn’t really tie into the other games in the series, so you won’t need to have an expert knowledge of the previous Opus games before going into this one. You should probably be able to play it all as a standalone experience.
Steam Next Fest runs until Monday, 20 October, 2025, at which point many of these demos will become unavailable.
