Smaller scale releases and indies also received a big amount of screentime, with one such title being Mina the Hollower.
From developer Yacht Club Games, the creators of the Shovel Knight series, you play as Mina, a Hollower on a mission to rescue a cursed island.
As Mina, you burrow beneath hazards and monsters, whip foes into oblivion, and use an arsenal of weapons to complete your mission.
Mina the Hollower launched a Kickstarter campaign back in 2022, where it managed to fund over $1.2 million.

A free demo is available to play on Steam, and it’s been received well by fans who have managed to sink some time into it.
“The tiny slice you get in this demo has me fiending for more,” wrote one review on Steam. “There is so much quality here and I had the biggest smile on my face as I was teleported back to the days of playing Oracle of Ages on my Gameboy Color.”
“Incredible GB Zelda feel, classic Yacht Club production value, fun and varied weapons,” another review reads.
“As expected from Yacht Club Games, they really understand what made 8-bit titles click but tailor the experience for the modern game designs,” a third review reads.
