The highly anticipated arrival of the Steam Deck 2 gets a promising release update, but we’ll need to be very patient.
When Valve’s Steam Deck launched in 2022, it took gaming on the go to the next level.
Over the years, handheld gaming has always been popular, whether it’s on one of the many Nintendo devices, the criminally underappreciated PS Vita or via our mobile phones.
At this time, there are a few Steam Deck consoles to choose from, each varying in power. However, no matter which version you choose, you’re essentially experiencing PC gaming in the palm of your hand.

Later this year, Microsoft will enter the handheld gaming scene, partnering with ASUS to release the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, the latter of which is the most powerful and expensive of the two.
While Microsoft is yet to release official prices of the handheld systems, it’s been reported that the ROG Xbox Ally will cost $549.99 (£410) and the ROG Xbox Ally X, $899.99 (£677).
To compare notes, the current versions of the Steam Deck can cost £349, £479 and £569, depending on which system you want to pick up.
That being said, with the release of the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X later this year, many have been wondering when the Steam Deck 2 will arrive.
