It’s time for another new Steam festival. Moving on from pushing boxes around in the last one, this time we’re going to war - it’s quite a shift in tone.
With Steam’s Wargames Fest, the storefront has drastically reduced a wealth of great games, all concerning the acts of war, and many of the offers come with a free demo to try out.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins can be tried out in the new Steam festival.
Maybe not as niche as the previous festival, which focused on box-pushing puzzle games, the Wargames Fest is honing in on big-scale battles.

As with all free demos, you simply need to download them to your PC or handheld PC, and then you can try out a portion of the game before deciding whether to take advantage of the sale discounts.
If you’re partial to a bit of warfare, then Total War: Shogun 2, might be right up your alley, with its simulation battles set within the “darkest age of Japan”.
You’ll play as general while you guide troops around a battlefield, coming up with your own tactics to turn the tide of war.
There are several Total War games up for grabs, including one based on Napoleon and his battles, while another features more medieval clashes.

Sumerian Six is a tactical adventure with a twist, as instead of playing a general, you’ll guide scientists behind Nazi lines to uncover arcane mysteries.
Real-time battles will test you as you navigate battle lines and wield powerful technology.
Headlining the festival is Dynasty Warriors: Origins, a game we were mightily impressed by when we reviewed it a few months ago.
The game acts as a prequel to the blockbuster franchise, making it perfect for long-time fans, as well as newcomers.

It’s currently 20% off, and will provide plenty of frenetic action and over-the-top battles, centred around the chaos of battlefields filled with soldiers.
There’s plenty to try, and enjoy, in the latest Steam festival.
