Smooth and steamy

It's no secret that 2025 is looking to be a stacked year for video games.

In the next few months alone we've got a brand-new Assassin's Creed on the way, followed by Xbox's new RPG Avowed.

2025 might even be the year we get GTA VI, though that's kind of up in the air right now. Best not to think about that one too much.

Anyway, all those bangers are still a little ways off, so I figured I'd round up 14 games you can currently download and keep for free on Steam. They may be small games, but you might just find something that sticks with you.

The 13 free Steam games you can download and keep right now, are:

  • Wild Ones Battle Stadium - Remember Worms? This is basically Worms.
  • Dichotomy - A story driven action-adventure puzzle game.
  • REVEREX: DX - "A 2-player asymmetric experience that blends platforming action and microgames on a visually stunning trip through the mind."
  • Drewdler - A cute-looking indie puzzle game.
  • Squared Adventure - A 2D platformer with some charming pixel graphics.
  • Emerald Dreams: Sanity - Platformer Quest - Another fun platformer for you to try.
  • Rune Seeker - An early access strategy based roguelike that could take up a lot of your time.
  • Capital - Will keep you busy until GTA VI if you get drunk and play it so you can pretend it's the next GTA. You will have to get really drunk.
  • Real Car Drift Racing - When mum says you have Need For Speed at home.
  • Bythzkel-Sombréa - A boomer shooter about slaying zombies.
  • Containment Breach - Top-down wave-based zombie survival. Looks pretty fun, actually!
  • ForkJump - Okay this one has quite a long description but I have to share it here because I've never heard the word fork used quite so frequently and it genuinely made me laugh out loud" "A dark, third-person, open-world exploration game set in a sci-fi environment. Dodge dangers, jumping fork monsters and fork-jump-scares. Master parkour and teleportation to discover secret areas and Forks, delving into the mystery of the Fork obsession and aiming to become the ultimate giga cyborg."
  • Ball Control - A maze-style game that requires careful precision to guide a ball to the goal. Simple but rewarding, which is exactly the kind of thing we love to see.
