Stardew Valley-esque game has more players than most Steam titles

This is one for farming fans!

If you’re a fan of Minecraft and Stardew Valley, then you might want to check out this free-to-play hybrid available now.

Perhaps, there are no two games more relaxing to play than the likes of Minecraft and Stardew Valley. Minecraft is the ultimate sandbox of fun, whether you’re playing with friends or building a fantastical world on your lonesome.

Whereas the indie sensation, Stardew Valley, has you taking care of your very own farm in Pelican Town and interacting with its endlessly charming villagers.

Before I proceed, Roblox is a game that has been shrouded in much controversy, such as claims of child exploitation in a report from The Guardian in 2022.

Much like Minecraft, Roblox is an endless sandbox of possibilities, which has tons of games inside the game. One such game, as brought to our attention by PCGamesN, which has major Stardew Valley vibes, is ‘Grow a Garden’.

“Are you ready to grow your very own garden? Buy seeds from the shop when they restock, plant them, wait for them to grow, and collect the profits,” reads the description of the game. “Flex fruits and find friends, and have fun!”

Similar to Stardew Valley, you begin with a plot of land, but with persistence, patience and added crafting skills, you’ll be living a digital farmer's dream in no time. Other players can also visit your farm if you allow them, and vice versa.

‘Grow a Garden’ was only released on the Roblox server on 22 March 2025 and already has millions of active players, with those impressive numbers boosted thanks to its free update ‘Blood Moon’ released on 18 May.

In fact, 'Grow a Garden' recently surpassed 5,000,000 active players, breaking all Roblox records; that would outperform everything on Steam's most popular games chart.

Roblox is a free-to-play game (with microtransactions) available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, as well as compatible mobile and VR devices.
