Resident Evil and Cyberpunk 2077 collide in jaw-dropping new horror

Mom come pick me up, I'm scared

Resident Evil 9’s reveal is long overdue, but there’s still no word on exactly when Capcom is ready to lift the lid on this one.

As painful as that may be for longtime fans, there are plenty of other thrilling horror games on the way that deserve your attention.

A.I.L.A, for example, is what you might get if you added a Cyberpunk 2077-esque flavouring into the world of Resident Evil.

Developed by Pulsatrix Studios and due to be published by Fireshine Games, A.I.L.A is a first-person horror set in the near future.

“Play as the sole game tester for a revolutionary new fictional AI,” the synopsis teases.

“Survive intense horror experiences that prey on your deepest fears as the lines between virtual and reality begin to blur.”

You can take a look at the game’s trailer below.

That looks pretty damn terrifying to me. Horrifying enemies? A grisly trap to escape? Nope, I’m not brave enough.

The game will task you with outrunning a ritualistic cult, as most horrors tend to, where your survival will depend both on you battling the medieval undead and solving gruesome puzzles.

As A.I.L.A is AI, she’ll come up with new horrifying simulations just as you begin to feel like you’re getting somewhere.

The game claims to blend survival, psychological and action horror in one ultimate package - and the game has been made in Unreal Engine 5 so it unsurprisingly looks fantastic.

Devs cite Observer, Outlast, SOMA, and Resident Evil 7 as inspirations.

There’s no release date for A.I.L.A just yet but it is expected to launch later this year on Steam.

Hopefully, if the game’s launch goes well, we could see this one eventually ported over to consoles.

Add it to your wishlist if you like what you see.
