Pokémon, Minecraft, and Zelda Collide in Gorgeous New Open-World RPG

Another banger to arrive in 2026

Beyond 2025, there are so many incredible games that I’m looking forward to playing.

Starsand Island, Marvel’s Wolverine, Out of Words, Deer & Boy, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, 007 First Light, Reanimal, The Blood of Dawnwalker, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, and Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf are amongst my personal most-hyped releases.

I’m sure you have your own list, and it’s likely one that constantly evolves as you discover new titles.

In fact, mine has just expanded following my discovery of Tomo: Endless Blue, a cosy ARPG that you might describe as the perfect blend of Pokémon, Minecraft, and The Legend of Zelda.

Developed by Onibi, Tomo: Endless Blue remains without a release date, but it is targeting a late 2026 launch where it’ll arrive on PC.

You shouldn’t lose hope if you’re a console gamer; originally, Tomo: Endless Blue was announced to be landing on “PC and console” but devs don’t appear to be committing to the late 2026 launch on console just yet, so it could simply be that those versions arrive some time after release.

“When worlds end, fragments of their civilisations become islands adrift in the Endless Blue - a boundless ocean realm inhabited by mysterious creatures known as the Tomo,” the synopsis reads.

“No one knows why the Endless Blue exists or why it gathers the remnants of fallen worlds. But at its heart lies the secrets of the Vagari, an ancient civilisation long vanished, yet whose influence still lingers beneath the waves. Their truth is waiting to be uncovered. Will you be the one to unravel the secrets they left behind?”

Tomo are, if you hadn’t gathered, small creatures you can collect as companions as Tomo: Endless Blue is a monster-catching game first and foremost.

You’ll build up a team of Tomo to fend off foes you encounter on your adventures.

When you’re not exploring or fighting, you’ll be able to build a cosy homestead where you can cook, farm, and craft - and it’s here that I imagine Minecraft fans will find themselves satisfied, particularly due to the blocky voxel aesthetic.

Well, that and the fact that Tomo: Endless Blue offers a huge procedurally-generated open-world, albeit one packed with hand-crafted content.

Exploration wise, there’s a Legend of Zelda feeling at play. You’ll discover unique villages, each with their own architectural style, culture, stories, quests, and NPCs.

As for those quests, here are some of the types of things you can get up to: “defeat a local champion in an arena, seek out a mythical Tomo, brave a dangerous cave, or uncover hidden secrets in ancient ruins”.

I should also mention that you can play Tomo: Endless Blue alone or with friends; it supports offline play, local network multiplayer and online server multiplayer. There’s no limit on how many players a server can support.

The devs have also stressed that they’re making Tomo: Endless Blue modding friendly so that players can have fun creatively.

It sounds like a great title that’s worth keeping an eye on, which you can do so by wishlisting the game on Steam or checking out Tomo: Endless Blue’s social media channels. I will be.
