Steam users have just over 24 hours to claim a freebie that comes highly recommended by PC owners.
One of the weirdest genres gaming ever spawned is undoubtedly simulators. Now, some simulator games make sense, especially those that recreate activities and hobbies that many would deem relaxing.
PowerWash Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 are good examples but then you get weird ones like Airport Baggage Simulator or Storage Hunter Simulator.
The one we’re talking about today kind of makes sense as to why it exists but even if it doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, it’s free-to-own, so why not give it a go?
Introducing Car Mechanic Simulator 2018, the latest Steam game being given away for absolutely nothing. Sure, it’s not the most exciting freebie we’ve seen on the platform but don’t click away just yet, as those who have played have a lot of surprisingly good things to say about it.

As you’d expect, the game is about fixing a wide variety of virtual cars. According to the game’s description, you’ll “build and expand your repair service empire in this incredibly detailed and highly realistic simulation game, where attention to car detail is astonishing.”
It’s a little outdated since there are newer versions of the game available elsewhere but it’s got a 90% positive rating with over 21,000 reviews, so let’s see what’s got players sticking around.
One particularly glowing review said, “You haven't lived until you've seen the expression on a real-life mechanic's face when you explain your reference for arguing about how to fix your engine problem comes from a video game that got released almost 10 years ago.
“But seriously, there's a lot more to this game than just sitting in the shop fixing cars. Yet another ‘free’ game on Steam that's not complete garbage.”

Another user who claimed the game for free recently said they “honestly didn’t expect to enjoy it this much.”
They said, “There’s something really enjoyable about fixing a completely broken car, replacing parts, cleaning it up, and seeing it run again. Even if you’re not a huge car person, it’s easy to get into.”
Whether you’re into cars or simulator games, this seems like a nice freebie to add to your collection.
We’d also imagine it’d pair well with the newly released Forza Horizon 6. When you’re done burning rubber through the streets of Japan, you could load this game up to unwind and gain a better understanding of what makes some of those cars tick.
You haven’t got long left to claim this freebie though, as it’ll return to its original price on 27 May.
