Roguelite horrors in space

Until our ancestors get to go out and really explore space for years at a time, the human race is going to have a fascination with what it might be like. More often than not, that leads us to dream up horrendous creatures that could be out there right now, and it rarely ends well for the human crew.

Continuing that time-honoured tradition is Moros Protocol, a sci-fi FPS roguelite that puts players on a derelict warship stranded in space, that just so happens to be populated solely by blood curdling creatures.

Throughout the game, you'll be guided by a mysterious voice that helps you to understand your surroundings and progress through the game, though its motives aren't fully clear.

Rendered in a genuinely stunning pixel-painted style, it should play like other roguelites, in that you'll incrementally adapt and upgrade to allow yourself to progress further and take on more difficult enemies.

Describing the premise of the game, the developer shared the following snippet, "You wake up aboard The Orpheus, a derelict warship lost in deep space and crawling with horrors. No memory. No allies. Only the instinct to fight and a voice urging you forward. The ship shifts around you, the enemies never stop, and survival means battling through blood-soaked corridors to uncover what lies ahead."

Moros Protocol's style is very much its own, but it has hints of classic DOOM and even games like Dead Space, in as far as the tension it creates through its premise is noticeably similar.

There is a free demo available to download right now, but if you want to get your hands on the full game, you won't have long to wait.

Moros Protocol is currently scheduled to release on Steam on 18 September, 2025, with very manageable system requirements that should be absolutely fine for most PC setups.
