If you were looking for a game that blends some of the best elements of Cyberpunk 2077 and Halo, then you’re in the right place.

Despite both being of the FPS genre, Cyberpunk 2077 and Halo are quite different games. Yes, they’re both set in the future and bring plenty of action, but one is an immersive open-world game RPG and the other is a linear adventure (not including Halo Infinite).

Check out the Defect trailer below!

One such game is the upcoming cyberpunk shooter, Defect, developed and published by the indie studio emptyvessel. Defect is also giving me major vibes of the DC icon, Judge Dredd.

“Defect is a cyberpunk, squad-based, Immersive Objective Shooter set in the last city of mankind, where The System, an authoritarian AI, rules with inhuman logic,” reads the description of the game on Steam. “Choose from a collection of dangerous factions—The System’s own policing force, Rogue Police Elements, or a host of gangs vying for power—play with friends in PvP or co-op.”

“Compete to achieve objectives like smuggling guns, assassinating targets, or arresting suspects. Suit up with state-of-the-art weaponry and technology to give you the edge you need to live another day.”

Defect looks like it could be an absolute blast (quite literally) and is gorgeous powered by Unreal Engine 5. To add to those Halo vibes, the soundtrack has been created by composer, Mick Gordon, but whether this sci-fi action game plays as well as it looks, remains to be seen.

Gamers on YouTube were quick to pile on the praise for this promising FPS with comments such as “I don't know what I just saw, but I liked it” and “Mick Gordon be walking out of the studio on fire with this one.”

Defect does not have a release date at the time of writing, but you can wishlist it on Steam so that you can be notified of its launch. There is no mention of a console release just yet.
