If you’re a fan of Cyberpunk 2077 and Disco Elysium, then you’re going to want to check out this new, cheap Steam RPG that “drips with atmosphere”.

With all the AAA releases we’ve been treated to so far this year, sometimes it might be easy for even the best indie darlings to fly under our radar, such as the RPG that is the topic of today’s discussion, which probably costs no more than a hot chocolate with cream and all the sprinkles.

It’s not always the case that cheap means quality; most of the time, a low price can be reflective of a game's quality, and not for the better. Hopefully, that isn't the case for this promising RPG that has vibes of Cyberpunk 2077 and Disco Elysium.

The game in question is Celestial Return, developed by Metaphor Games and published by Shoreline Games. Best of all, it’s currently got a launch discount of 20%, bringing the price down from an already reasonable £8.50/$14.99 to just £6.80/$11.99.

What exactly is Celestial Return?

Celestial Return is an action RPG, set in a futuristic sci-fi world, that has an interesting mechanic of rolling dice to not only stay alive, but to remain strong. A reckless roll of the dice could lead to your untimely demise.

“A dying city. A string of suicides. A detective with nothing left to lose.

Netherveil City eats the weak. Its streets bleed neon, its corpses crawl back to life, and its secrets? They'll gnaw through your sanity,” reads the synopsis of the game on Steam.

“Step into the worn boots of Detective Howard. Armed with a rusted badge, a sentient rose that won't shut up, and a pocketful of stolen dice. Explore the city. Interrogate the dead. Expose the c*rpos. Investigate. Make choices. Loot the dice. Roll the dice. And survive.”

What does the Steam community say about Celestial Return?

Released on July 14, 2026, Celestial Return currently has a “Positive” rating taken from 15 Steam user reviews, which is a very solid start, it has to be said.

“Celestial Return is a short CRPG game set in a cyberpunk world that follows a detective on mysterious cases. The Dice mechanic is one of my favourite mechanics that really includes luck and strategy, as once the dice are thrown, it's gone forever. Some situations/scenes will let you earn dice (Its limited),” wrote Collectorhubs.

“It reads like a comic, plays like a light-CRPG, and pulls from the 'us vs them' (minority vs mega-corp.) energy setting that can be seen in other game/movie titles,” said EternalCircuit.

“Excellent ambience and narrative. Seems like a real passion project. It definitely draws on Disco Elysium in some pretty obvious ways, but that was a good system and should be imitated, in my opinion,” explained Levitate. “As a long-time Cyberpunk 2077, Shadowrun, dystopian sci-fi purveyor, the game hits a lot of sweet spots and has kept me pretty rapt with the story.”

Finally, while Steam user TinMan said that the story can feel a little light, Celestial Return “drips with atmosphere.”

Celestial Return is out now exclusively on Steam. The 20% discount ends on July 28, 2026.
