Featuring a medieval setting and party-based turn-based combat, this brand-new Steam addition is definitely one which you will want to keep on your radar.

If you enjoy the medieval setting of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt but games such as Baldur’s Gate 3 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 have given you a taste for turn-based gameplay, then Fractal Odyssey may just be the perfect addition to your Steam wishlist.

Added to Steam just this weekend, Fractal Odyssey is a tactical RPG “about forging freedom”.

Players will be in charge of guiding a group of rebels on a journey to slay a dragon god and topple a tyrannical decree whilst they are there.

Across their journey, they will face frozen wastes, ephemeral dreams, and of course, face towering foes who will do whatever it takes to stop their ascent.

“They will fall, and they will die. You must carve their future,” the Steam synopsis reads.

Developed by Golden Thread, Fractal Odyssey is a “modern take” on the tactical RPG genre as players can expect a traditional core but with modern and innovative gameplay mechanics.

As you journey to the Capital, you will be the story’s author as you cast an ever-seeing eye on the events which unfold and target your intrepid explorers.

With freedom on the line, you and your team must do whatever it takes to reach your location.

Fractal Odyssey features a unique combat system, an attrition-based campaign “where defeat is inevitable and mastery is demanded”, MMO-inspired boss fights, and a dark but hopeful story about finding light in the darkest of times.

A story of hope

“You, the Reader, join the Narrator as she tells the tale of these doomed souls,” the synopsis continues.

“She is not a mere writer, she is just as much a part of this story as they are. She will be your constant companion.

This is a story of pain, loss, death, and trauma. It is a story of fighting against truly impossible odds. It is a story of hope, redemption, and growth.

This is Fractal Odyssey.”

Fractal Odyssey does not yet have a full release date or window but its demo is now free to download and keep courtesy of Steam.

This will give you ample opportunity to see if this innovative new turn-based RPG is for you as well as offering you the chance to work with developers by providing feedback.

There is no denying that Fractal Odyssey already looks incredibly promising so what better way to show your support by downloading and playing right now?
