A highly popular open-world RPG is finally set to make its way to PC storefront Steam this year.
It was two years ago that Zenless Zone Zero first landed on PlayStation 5 before being ported over to Xbox Series X/S consoles the following year.
Blending Genshin Impact’s gameplay formula with a cyberpunk aesthetic, Zenless Zone Zero immediately became yet another free-to-play hit for miHoYo and the HoYoverse.
Unfamiliar with the title? Described as an “urban fantasy ARPG”, players step into the shoes of a “proxy”.
A disaster known as “Hollows” destroys civilisation, bringing about giant, terrifying monsters called Ethereals.

New Eridu is the last city to remain standing amid the apocalypse, but it’s not without its fair share of threats.
The city is doing everything it can to protect itself from the Hollows, including the deployment of you, a Proxy - an agent dedicated to quelling any threats.
“You'll embark on adventures with unique characters, exploring Hollows together, battling powerful enemies, completing commissions, and uncovering the secrets hidden within the city,” the synopsis reads.
As you’ve likely guessed, there are plenty of combat encounters in Zenless Zone Zero, with players able to make use of Basic Attacks, Special Attacks, and Chain Attacks - the latter essentially acting as a finisher.

You’ll need to spot and exploit an enemy’s weakness if you want to succeed as every enemy within Zenless Zone Zero has its own speciality.
The game boasts a stunning cyberpunk anime art style and when you’re not saving the world, you’ll be able to freely explore New Eridu.
There are various factions you can encounter with each block of the city displaying its own unique identity.
Players can take on urban errands as well as main quests.
As an RPG, you should also expect a sprawling cast of characters, all of whom come with their own quests where you’ll get to know them better.
Zenless Zone Zero is already a major success, with a ‘Generally Favourable’ score of 77 on MetaCritic.
Developers have constantly expanded it over the years so there’s no shortage of content. In fact, it’s likely that the game’s third annual season will drop this summer.
As for the game’s arrival on PC, HoYoverse is yet to confirm an exact release date, but it did specify that Zenless Zone Zero is coming to Steam in Q2 of 2026.
That refers to the period of April to June inclusive, so it should be ours to enjoy within the next two months.
It goes without saying that as a free-to-play title, Zenless Zone Zero will include microtransactions but you can avoid those if you’re willing to miss out on some aspects of the title.
With players accruing hundreds of hours in this one, you shouldn’t feel the brunt of that too badly.
