Contain is the twisted baby of FEAR and BioShock

Just because we’re amidst the festive season of joy doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a good scare.

Just because we’re in the midst of the festive season, it doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a good scare.

If you’re a fan of the FEAR and BioShock games, you’ll no doubt be interested in Contain, a first-person-shooter releasing next year that you won’t want to miss.

Take a look at the thrilling trailer for Contain below!

So what exactly is Contain, I hear you ask? Well it’s strikingly similar to the FEAR games, in the sense you play as a soldier on the hunt for horrifying monsters called “anomalies”.

Aside from boasting some gloriously realistic graphics, Contain also grants the player different perspectives, shown through different cameras on the player’s character. You can play the game with your standard first-person view, or see the world from a camera on your helmet.

Your weapons can be fully-customised to suit your needs, and you’ve got quite a few options to pick from. They’ll also come equipped with flashlights, and you’re definitely going to need them. Environments in Contain look eerily dark, and the last thing you’d want to do is unknowingly wander into a dark room with a creature scuttling around inside it.

Arguably the best part about Contain is you won’t have to play it alone. The game will support co-operative play with up to four people, making it an ideal game to play with your buddies provided you’re good at working together - though saying that, it might be more fun to play when your teamwork is in shambles.

As for release dates, the full-release of Contain is due on 16 January 2024, meaning it's a matter of weeks before you can try it out for yourself. Early access is also an option if you’re desperate to give it a go.

Unfortunately the game will be exclusive to PC, available through the Steam store. Sorry Xbox and PlayStation players.
