If you took the high-octane action of Battlefield 6 and threw in a bunch of nasty creatures that wouldn’t look out of place in Resident Evil, you’d end up with something like Phantom Line.

Developed by Antistatic Studios, Phantom Line is an upcoming co-op shooter set in a post-nuclear version of Europe, designed for up to four players.

“Your mission is to search and contain paranormal events and activities (anomalies) hidden from the public eye, in an open world map full of dynamic events,” teases the game’s synopsis.

Phantom Line places you into the shoes of an operator, part of an “elite spec-op unit that deals with anomalies, bizarre and inexplicable events hidden from the public” under the control of Mortfield Industries.

One of Mortfield Industries’ research facilities located in the Iron Corridor, a region of Eastern Europe plagued by international tensions and paranormal activity, has lost contact with HQ.

You’re sent in to investigate and secure the perimeter but unfortunately for you, nuclear war breaks out.

Players will face off against environmental hazards and monstrous entities.

All of the typical shooter elements factor in, but you also get to utilise something known as The H.U.S.K which lets you transfer your consciousness into an artificial body.

You can use this to distract enemies or scout areas.

Initially unveiled in 2024, Antistatic has now finally announced when we can next get our hands on Phantom Line.

Try the game out for free soon

The title doesn’t have a full launch date yet, but we do know that an open playtest will be kicking off on 5 March 2026.

In the playtest, you’ll be able to test out Mortfield’s H.U.S.K training facility whilst facing off against anomalies across an open-world.

You’ll “venture into space-time and fight new types of enemies, solve new mysteries, and overcome new challenges”, a press release said.

This isn’t the game's first playtest, and feedback from previous tests has been taken onboard.

There are new animations, a rewritten movement and interaction system, an improved camera, more precise controls, and a new spatial audio system.

The game’s biomes and weather have also been boosted, whilst plenty of bugs have been stomped out.

Devs refer to the playtest as a “new level of first-person experience” but stress that Phantom Line remains in development so they’re expecting to take on further feedback.

Want to be involved in the playtest? I highly recommend you wishlist the game on Steam or hop into its Discord to be kept up to date.
