A new expansion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will give players a whole new city to explore, over a decade after the game’s release.

The Elder Scrolls fans have been going hungry over the last few years, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released in 2011, and while Bethesda has found plenty of cheeky reasons to re-release the game for new audiences and platforms, it’s old age is definitely showing.

Unfortunately, The Elder Scrolls VI is still a long way off. Despite being announced several years early, the game only just left pre-production, according to an interview with Bethesda Softworks CEO Peter Hines.

That means Elder Scrolls fans are in for an even longer wait until they can play what’s being described as the “ultimate fantasy world simulator.”

In the meantime, it falls to the heroes in Bethesda’s modding community to keep the current tiles fresh, and a new modded expansion for Skyrim adds an entirely new city to explore.

Titled Imperium Alestara City, created by Dominicgraham1994, the mod grants players an entirely new area and adventure to sink a few hours into. Its description reads: “Experience Alestara's grandeur in Skyrim! Explore a vibrant city with quests, new NPCs, guilds, and unique activities. Immerse in lore, engage with factions, and enjoy enhanced gameplay mechanics. From bustling markets to serene gardens, unlock new dimensions of adventure!”

The mod’s creator has made it clear that the city isn’t quite finished just yet, and the mod will be updated over time. In order to keep the updates coming, Dominicgraham1994 is asking for support from fellow modders to add additional quests, voiced NPCs, items and more.

Despite being a work in progress, it’s an impressive build, especially since there’s only one person currently working on it. It’s definitely one to keep an eye on, as over time it could shape up to be of the same quality as other expansions, like Legacy Of The Dragonborn and The Chain Of Time.
