Red Dead Redemption finally getting a proper remaster

Now all we need is a proper remake...

Rockstar Games recently surprised fans with the news that Red Dead Redemption will be getting ported to PC, and it’ll include visual enhancements.

While it would have been nice to see a full-on remake using Red Dead Redemption 2’s engine, a remaster is more than enough for the time being, especially considering it looks so much better than the original.

Take a look at the trailer for Red Dead Redemption below

Don’t be mistaken though, while the new PC version will feature enhanced visuals they’re more so touch-ups and fully-fledged changes, the image has been cleared up but the textures remain the same.

Nevertheless it’s still an improvement, and side-by-side comparisons between the PC port trailer and the PlayStation 5 version of the game provide a clear picture of the difference in quality.

It is certainly the superior version in terms of visuals, but whether you think that’s worth the full-price is up to you.

The port also includes all DLC content at no additional cost, including Undead Nightmare which is up there as one of the best DLC expansions we’ve ever had in a game.

I suppose the real reason you’d want Red Dead Redemption on PC though is the mods, as Red Dead Redemption 2 modders have completely changed the game with new content, including entirely new maps to explore.

With that in mind it’s only a matter of time before we get entirely new expansions for Red Dead Redemption, potentially exploring out-of-bounds areas we couldn’t get to before.

Again if you think that’s worth getting the game at full-price, that’s up to you, but since there’s no sign of a full-on remake on the way this remaster is likely the best we’re going to get.

The Red Dead Redemption PC port will release on 29 October later this month, and will be a big day for fans who’ve waited for this for ages.
