The Last of Us fans are over the moon following a surprise announcement that a new release is getting free DLC and it’s not just for PC gamers.

The Last of Us made its debut on the PlayStation 3, towards the end of the consoles life cycle in June 2013, and it not only established itself as one of Naughty Dog’s best properties alongside the likes of Uncharted but it instantly became a flagship brand for Sony.

Since that very first release, we’ve seen a remaster, a sequel, a remake and another remaster. If you couldn't tell, Sony and Naughty Dog love The Last of Us series, and so do we.

The most recent remaster arrived in 2024 with The Last of Us Part II Remastered for the PlayStation 5 and next month, it arrives on PC and to celebrate the upcoming new launch, Naughty Dog is releasing free DLC for all available platforms.

The free DLC arrives courtesy of patch 2.0.0 bringing two new characters, four maps, a skin and trophies for the survival mode, ‘No Return’ and fans are hyped.

“I loved the story [of The Last of Us Part II], but I was always left hungry for more gameplay, and more options to use some of the mechanics. ‘No Return’ is just that, and I'm stoked for more content,” declared Reddit user ElegantEchoes.

“Hell yeah, I finished almost all the challenges for it a month ago, had a lot of fun and can’t wait to hop back in so soon,” replied rapkat55.

“Dude, this rules! ‘No Return’ getting new maps and characters is so unexpected. I’ve been playing the daily runs on and off since launch. Can’t wait to check out the new stuff.” said Just_Looking_Thanx.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered is out now on PlayStation 5. The PC version arrives on 3 April 2025, alongside patch 2.0.0.
