The Last Of Us fans losing it over surprise announcement

I need this!

The Last of Us is getting a brand new release, and fans are losing it following its recent announcement.

It seems that Sony and Naughty Dog are far from done with selling us The Last of Us in any shape or form. Saying that, I can’t complain, because if fans like me keep buying all the content and memorabilia, they will never stop.

Even since The Last of Us was first released on the PlayStation 3 in 2013, towards the end of the console's life, we’ve seen remasters, a remake, ports and everything else in between.

We’ve even had a live-action adaptation from HBO in collaboration with Naughty Dog, which had a great first season, but it’s fair to say, a bit of a wonky second.

Hopefully, season three will get back on track with its focus on Abby Anderson, played by the talented Kaitlyn Dever.

However, a lot of season three’s success will, of course, rely on the writing because if it's bad, not even this talented actress could save it.

Inconsistent writing aside from the TV series, let’s not forget what brought the HBO adaptation to the dance, and that’s the video game series. Nothing is perfect, but in my humble opinion, the writing of the first two games is top-notch (mostly).

With that in mind, if you’re a fan of the writing from The Last of Us Part I (including Left Behind) and The Last of Us Part II, then this new release might be for you.

The new release in question is The Last of Us: Part I and Part II Scripts, published by Dark Horse Books, and fans are losing it.

“Yeah, it's mine,” declared flabbiersteam.

“Good morning sunshine,” replied farond_yahweh, while PeterPorker9900 shared the “Take my money” gif from Futurama.

Naturally, there were several less impressed with this new release, with comments such as “Haven’t they milked this enough?” from callummontgom11, which is fair.

There were also many others asking if The Last of Us: Part I and Part II Scripts will be sold in other regions outside of North America. I have checked Amazon UK to see if it’s available to pre-order, and at the time of writing, it is not. But I think that will change soon.

At least in North America, The Last of Us: Part I and Part II Scripts will be released on 16 December 2025.
