I think it's fair to say it's been a relatively confusing week to be a fan of The Last Of Us.

On the one hand the HBO series is getting closer with each passing day, which is great.

On the other hand, Naughty Dog boss Neil Druckmann recently said he's not even sure there'll be a third game, which has definitely set the clicker amongst the pigeons.

Now, mere hours after that divisive proclamation, PlayStation has dropped a special announcement for fans of The Last Of Us.

PlayStation has revealed a brand-new limited-edition DualSense controller inspired by The Last Of Us Part II, and it is a stunning little piece of kit.

“We were excited by the chance to memorialize The Last of Us franchise in a controller that fans and our own team would love," Naughty Dog said.

"We wanted to ensure that both installments of The Last of Us are represented, via trophy icons printed in black gloss across the controller body. Among the trophies, three particular images will immediately stand out for TLOU fans: The firefly, moth, and wolf. Players will recognize the Fireflies’ iconic spray-painted logo that originated in Part I, while the moth and wolf represent the intertwining lives and duality between Ellie and Abby in Part II.“

What are the fans saying?

Fans are equally excited by the unexpected announcement, and no doubt already frothing and ready for pre-orders to go live on 14 March.

"100% getting this. Setting my reminder now. Not missing this for nothing," one fan wrote on Twitter.

Another added: "I swear to golf clubs that if I am not able to get this because bots make it sell out before my phone loads I am going to be SO MAD (and probably cry, let’s be real)."

A third wrote: "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY," which I think sums up the general consensus quite nicely.
