Star Wars Outlaws PS5 players forced to restart with new saves following update

Well, this is a bit akward

Star Wars Outlaws is out now for anyone who ordered the super fancy edition of the game, though it’ll be out for everyone on 30 August.

However, Ubisoft has informed PlayStation 5 players that they may want to restart their playthrough otherwise they may run into issues later in the game.

We loved our time with Star Wars Outlaws and it's out now for you to play

Ubisoft has communicated with players the following, “Once you've confirmed you have the latest version, please start a new save to fully enjoy Star Wars Outlaws as our team intended.” (Thank you TheGamer.)

This comes with a new patch that will improve the playing experience but at the cost of having to restart the game which could wipe out several hours of progress.

As yet, this isn’t proving to be an issue for PC or Xbox players and seems localised to PlayStation 5 only.

Of course, this isn’t proving too popular with players who believe the game should have arrived in the state intended by Ubisoft in the first place.

One player on Twitter complained, “Now that I've played four hours worth, you email me telling me to start a new save. I got this email at 3:50pm today. I was well into my play through. How bad would it be if I just kept playing?“

Restarting a game at any point is a pain, but knowing you’ve put a good few hours into it makes it even worse.

There is the gamble that you could continue playing, but who knows what kinds of problems you might run into down the line.

You could restart now and lose a few hours, or possibly run into a game-breaking bug at 20-plus hours forcing a restart.

Either way, if you’ve started Star Wars Outlaws on PlayStation 5, it might be worth restarting as Ubisoft requests, just in case.
