This brand new PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 game might not actually be new to a lot of you, but it’s certainly proving to be a hit with those who were waiting for it to finally land on Sony’s platforms, based on the perfect 5/5 user score on the PlayStation Store.

Thank you in advance to ComicBook’s Tyler Fischer for the original article!

Shadows Over Loathing, the sequel to the 2017 title West of Loathing, developed and published by Asymmetric Publications, was a critical hit when it landed on Steam and MacOS back in 2022.

Even Shadows Over Loathing’s score on Steam is nothing short of incredible, as it has an "Overwhelming Positive" score with over 2,870 reviews (96% of which are positive).

That’s probably why it’s no surprise that said critical reception has translated into a high user score, although a score of this magnitude is practically unheard of on the PlayStation Store.

As of writing, Shadows Over Loathing has a perfect 5/5 score on the PlayStation Store. To put that into perspective, that means every single reviewer on PlayStation has rated this game a five out of five. Even if one person had given it a 4.5, it would have missed out on that perfect 5/5 score.

Now I’m sure someone will eventually ruin everyone’s fun and give this a one out of five, just so they can feel special, but in the meantime… I honestly can’t think of a greater advertisement for a game.

Personally, both West of Loathing and Shadows Over Loathing eluded me at their time of release, but this kind of critical reception is more than enough to convince me to take a swing on buying them (especially when they’re relatively cheap anyway).

Here’s hoping Asymmetric Publications comes out with a new game soon, because it seems like they’ve garnered quite the loyal fanbase.
