Steam drops free download for one of 2024's biggest games

What a stellar opportunity

One of 2024’s biggest games is coming to Steam with a free download allowing players to try out the game before they drop the cash to buy it outright.

Confirmed by community manager for Shift Up, it seems that Stellar Blade has a demo available on Steam, right now.

Stellar Blade became one of the most talked about games last year, garnering millions of fans, and impressing many with a sci-fi adventure that featured protagonist Eve battling creatures beyond imagination.

In our review, GAMINGbible's Richard Lee Breslin said, “This is an epic action adventure from start to finish that kept me engaged and wanting to come back for more. It doesn't do a great deal to reinvent the wheel, but it doesn't need to. This gorgeous and fun game knows exactly what it is,” before handing it a 9/10.

Now, the game is coming to Steam on 11 June, and to get players excited, they can download a demo from the store page.

If you’re unaware of the adventures of Eve in Stellar Blade, allow me to paint you a picture.

Here, you will be saving humanity from extinction as you puzzle out the mystery of Earth’s downfall, while battling the overlords who now rule the planet.

With blistering action and thoughtful story-telling, you’re in for an exciting journey that has been optimised from the ground up for PC play, after jumping over from the PlayStation 5.

Expect action that bridges the fast-paced combat of Devil May Cry, along with hulking bosses made popular in recent years by games like Dark Souls.

This PC version of the game looks… ahem… stellar, and shows off the shine and pop of the more colourful sections of the game, while keeping the grounded environments swarmed by shadows.

If you’re looking for something to try out this week, give it a go.
