I am constantly running out of storage space on my PlayStation 5 console.
I try to see the positives in that; running out of storage forces me to actually focus on finishing the games I’m pretty far into as I can’t really afford to have too many on the go at once.
Every now and then though, I do just find myself in a predicament where there’s simply nothing I’m willing to sacrifice.
If you often find yourself in the same boat, there’s a must-know tip I need to tell you about that I feel so silly for having only recently discovered.

I’ve owned my PlayStation 5 since launch, so we’re talking five years now.
In those five years, I’ve earned hundreds of trophies. Heck, maybe even thousands.
Every time a trophy pops, what happens? Yes, it records a little gameplay clip.
I don’t know about you but I personally never take a walk down memory lane; I enjoy unlocking trophies but I don’t ever feel the urge to watch those moments back.
I’m sure many of you feel the same way and yet we’ve all allowed hundreds of clips to mount up on our consoles.
Well, first of all, I’d recommend you delete those.
After that though, you’re going to want to change one quick setting to prevent this from happening again.
Turn Off Auto-Recording to Save Internal PS5 Storage
If you head into your PS5 settings and select ‘Captures and Broadcasts’, you’re going to want to navigate to where it says ‘Trophies’.
From here, simply toggle off automatic recording.
From now on, your PS5 will no longer take a hefty clip for every single trophy which will stop your console from getting clogged faster than you can say, ‘Again?’

Like I said, as for the hundreds or thousands of clips you already have accrued, you’re going to have to delete those manually.
I should also add that you can actually customise your trophy recordings if you want some clips but not all.
You can change the length of the clip, so you may just want 10 seconds, for example, instead of 30.
You can also adjust the grade of trophy recorded.
By that, I mean you can set platinum trophies to record but exclude bronze, silver, and gold, or whatever combination floats your boat.
You can also change the resolution of captures as, obviously, a lower resolution clip will take up way less storage.
It’s a really easy way of subtly improving your storage; it might just be the difference between downloading that extra game you’re so desperate to.
