PlayStation 5 owners can free up a fair bit of storage using one very simple trick.
It’s a problem I’m sure all gamers have regardless of what console they own. Storage space just isn’t easy to come by nowadays.
I personally went through the torment of having to rearrange my PlayStation 5 storage just yesterday, as I had too many games installed and not enough space to update them. It’s a shame too because they’re all ones I’m either actively playing or am about to boot up.
If you’re like me and you’re also struggling to keep your games installed and ready to go, listen to this as it might save you a lot of hassle. Organise your captures.

This tip has been covered extensively ever since the PlayStation 5 first came out, through forums and Reddit threads exploring tips and tricks for Sony’s console - and yet, it's still overlooked by many.
On default settings, your PlayStation 5 will automatically capture footage for you when you’ve successfully earned a trophy. It’ll do a screenshot and a 30 second recording of what was done to obtain said trophy.
It’s a nice idea, for sure, as why wouldn’t you want your proudest gaming accomplishments recorded and uploaded for clout?
Unfortunately though, the captures aren’t restricted to the rarest trophies obtainable, it’ll capture a clip for every trophy you obtain unless you turn it off.

It doesn’t sound like much but after a while, it’ll add up, and when it comes to clearing some space by deleting old and unwanted captures, you’ll likely find it's trophy captures taking up most of the room.
So navigate into the PlayStation 5’s settings and turn off the auto-capture function if you want to prevent your storage space from filling up, and delete any unwanted captures to clear a bit of extra room. Your PlayStation 5 will thank you in the long run.
