PS5 Drops Free Demo For Stunning 2025 Fantasy RPG

A mid-week treat

The PlayStation 5 is boasting a new demo for you to play, this time for one visually stunning RPG.

Now I know PlayStation isn’t short of epic RPGs like the rebooted God of War games but while you’re waiting to see if that mysterious desert monolith is teasing another adventure with Kratos you should give this title a go.

It’s called Eternal Strands and if you search it in the PlayStation Store you’ll find there’s a free Prologue demo available now.

Developed and published by Yellow Brick Games, Eternal Strands is described as a “third-person fantasy action game where ARPG-style elemental mastery meets open-zone exploration and improvisation".

It adds: "Players step into a richly reactive world, not just to follow a path, but to forge one.”

The description further states that you’ll play as a character called Brynn, “a young Weaver, wielding fire, ice, and kinetic magic as tools of survival, strategy, and power. Whether freezing a dragon’s wings mid-flight or tearing apart the battlefield with physics-driven chaos, every encounter demands quick thinking and creative control, not just reflex.”

It actually looks quite impressive, with a gorgeous open-world and some interesting enemies to fight along the way.

Playing the prologue will take you through the first area of the game and the description says your progress will carry over to the full release, should you choose to buy the full game.

At the time of writing the game is actually on sale for less than £10, expiring on 22 December.

So if you do decide to give the demo a go and like what you play you can grab the full thing at a reduced price.

Eternal Strands has scored quite well on user reviews too, with over four stars on the PlayStation Store though no written reviews to go along with it.

It's worth mentioning that the game isn’t exclusive to PlayStation. You can play it on Xbox and PC too if you’d prefer.

Steam currently has a demo for the game much like PlayStation and on Xbox it’s actually featured on Xbox Game Pass, so you can play the whole thing at no additional cost.

So if you’re looking for something new to play this week or this month in-between some of 2025’s final releases, Eternal Strands might be your cup of tea.

If not it’s only a free demo, so no harm done if you decide you don’t like it.
