PlayStation User Just Unearthed The Wildest Bug Fix I’ve Ever Seen

I'm astounded

This has to be seen to be believed.

One PlayStation user has somehow managed to save their console from the brink of death using a method that should’ve sealed its fate, if anything.

Twitter/X user realradec took to social media to share the story which was originally posted on Reddit by seascouuut who actually performed the bonkers feat.

You see, seascouuut’s PlayStation 3 fell victim to the so-called ‘yellow light of death’.

Similarly to Xbox’s infamous ‘red ring of death’, this yellow light essentially indicated that your PS3 console was most likely on its way out.

It typically reflected that the solder under the CPU or RSX chip had cracked due to heat stress often leading to a power supply failure.

That is something that can technically be fixed but at a pretty hefty cost as your console will require some new components - and you’ll likely need to get someone to carry out the fix if you don’t have the knowhow to do it yourself.

User seascouuut had a very different way of dealing with the problem though.

They decided to wrap their PlayStation 3 console in a towel and blast it with a hairdryer … which melted the console.

Seriously, you can see the melted console below.

And yet despite the plastic console melting, seascouuut’s attempts somehow fixed the problem, ridding the hardware of the yellow light of death.

As I said, this needs to be seen to be believed because it is absolutely wild.

To quell any doubt, seascouuut shared a picture of their working (melted) PS3 loading up a copy of Watch Dogs.

Even if seascouuut has managed to overcome the problem, I’m assuming that the console will still meet its end further down the line.

You can’t tell me that a melted console is in a healthy, stable condition.

As you can imagine, the fix has attracted plenty of attention.

“It physically hurts to look at that poor thing but hey, glad it still works,” wrote xXwjamzXx.

“That disc drive is definitely cooked though,” added sg1jb.

I think they’re right there.

“Oh yeah I did something like this too. Only melted the frame around the exhaust vent a little. It works, for a short time, and gets less effective each time. RIP PS3 buddy,” shared RvdCoinflipper.

I should stress that I don’t recommend you try and copy this method; it sounds a little dangerous if you ask me.

The damage is already done in this instance though. May this PS3 continue to thrive for as long as possible.
