A PlayStation Plus user has drawn attention to one particular game on the service, highlighting it as the “greatest JRPG I’ve ever played”.
And, I have to say, it’s perhaps the reminder I needed to finally get around to trying what many deem to be one of the modern greats.
If you want to access the title, you’ll need an extra tier subscription.
There you’ll find, drum roll please, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade.

Developed and published by Square Enix, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is a remake of 1997’s action RPG Final Fantasy VII that landed in 2021.
Well, it’s the first part of the remake at least.
The game is being adapted into three new instalments.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is the game being praised here; you’ll then want to seek out 2024’s Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

A third and final entry is in development, although it doesn't yet have a name.
Reunion is a popular fan theory, but we’ll see.
Let’s hop back to Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade.
“Final fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade. Greatest JRPG I’ve ever played besides Persona 4,” Reddit user Martyrdomer remarked.

Their sentiment is backed up by tons of positive reviews.
Final Fantasy VII Remake boasts a score of 87 over on Metacritic while Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade sits even higher at 89.
The difference? Intergrade is simply the PS5 current-gen upgrade, so includes better framerates and is bundled with the game’s DLC.
You don’t need to have played any other Final Fantasy titles with this serving as a standalone story.

It centres around mercenary Cloud Strife who joins eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE in a bid to fight back against the powerful Shinra megacorporation.
Gameplay wise, you’ll be participating in real-time combat with Final Fantasy VII Remake, all set within a huge sweeping narrative.
In fact, according to How Long To Beat, it could take you 86 hours to 100% the game.
I know it’s a title well loved by many here at GAMINGbible, but I confess, I’ve yet to give it a whirl myself.

Arguably there’s no better time though, with the third entry having not been officially unveiled, there’s perhaps more than enough time to complete both Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
Final Fantasy VII Remake comes in at closer to 32 hours just for the game’s main story which is more achievable.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is slightly longer at 48.5 hours for the main story and 91 hours for completionist playthroughs.
Rebirth isn’t yet on PlayStation Plus but perhaps it’ll follow in its predecessor's footsteps soon.
