Not only did the sudden arrival of the second official GTA VI shock fans by offering them an abundance of brand-new content to get stuck into, but there was also another reason to be excited about the upcoming release.
That is because Rockstar has confirmed that a large quantity of the second Grand Theft Auto VI trailer was recorded using the PlayStation 5 and considering the game looks absolutely incredible, this is good news indeed.
Check out the second trailer for GTA VI below!
However, the good news does not stop there as Sony is also working on its next-gen PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology which aims to improve image quality and smoother gameplay at 4K 120FPS and 8K 60FPS.

There is a lot of hardware jargon here but quite simply, it will mean that by the time it is released next May, Grand Theft Auto VI could look even better than it does now.
Arriving on the PlayStation 5 Pro, this new update comes from leaker Moore’s Law is Dead who claims that the new PSSR 2 would require a base resolution of 864p but then it upscaled thanks to AI technology, making it able to reach 4K on the PS5 Pro.
"That is what Sony is trying to solve here again by first having a higher quality algorithm or AI upscaling method, and then once they improve that like you know a full FSR 2 to FSR 3.1 improvement in image quality,” the leaker claimed.
“They then want to make it more lightweight so that it's not keeping the capped frame rate anymore".

With PSSR 2 upscaling, Sony aims to make the PS5 Pro reach the following impressive numbers:
- 1080p @ 120FPS (locked)
- 1440p @ 120FPS (locked)
- 4K @ 120FPS
- 8K @ 60FPS
With this new technology being implemented before the launch of GTA VI on 26 May 2026, this could mean that the brand-new trailer is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the graphics the Rockstar title will be able to reach for those with the PS5 Pro.

Hopefully we will find out more when Sony announces this update officially.
