If you’re a PC user who favours PlayStation accessories, you’re going to adore what I’m about to tell you next.
Up to this point, using PlayStation hardware with a PC required the use of the PlayStation Accessories app.
That’s no longer solely the case as Sony has just unveiled PlayStation Link PC Driver, which will allow you to adjust and update your PS Link compatible devices without the need for a PlayStation 5 console.
Unlike the PlayStation Accessories app, which supports things like the DualSense and DualSense Edge, the PS Link Driver supports all PS Link devices which, unsurprisingly, make use of PlayStation Link wireless technology.

So, yes, this includes things like the Pulse Elite Wireless Headset, the Pulse Explore wireless earbuds, and more.
This will, in the words of PlayStation, allow PC users to “take full control of your audio experience”.
You’ll be able to make firmware updates and adjust audio settings directly from your PC.
To make it clear, the PlayStation Accessories app is still where you’ll head for controller related matters.

To install the PS Link Driver, you need a PC running at least Windows 10 (Arm 64 and x86_64) or Windows 11, and it needs to have a display resolution of 1280x800 or higher, and 250MB of storage space or more.
The installation process requires an internet connection and available USB ports for your PS Link USB adapter which is the small black dongle that should’ve come with at least one of your compatible PS Link products.
Full installation instructions have been listed on the official PlayStation website.
As for when you can get your hands on this driver, its rollout has been described as “gradual” with little specificity offered beyond that.

The gradual rollout is due to end on 2 October so you should receive this update within the next month.
It’s an update that’s already been massively welcomed by PlayStation fans.
“Oh this is great news,” remarked one social media user, while another added, “Amazing work PlayStation.”
Certainly, this update feels better late than never but at least it’s finally here.
