Two old-school PlayStation franchises are just about to land on PlayStation 5, and fans are already hopeful that these re-releases could result in some brand-new releases.

As revealed on the PlayStation Blog, several new titles will be available through the PlayStation Plus catalogue on November 19th.

These include, but are not limited to, Grand Theft Auto V, Dying Light 2, Like a Dragon: Ishin, Digimon Survive, Chivalry II, and Overcooked! All You Can Eat.

However, PlayStation Premium members are going to get a little extra treat; two games apiece from both the Resistance and the Legacy of Kain series.

“On [November 19th],” read the blog post, “five new titles join PlayStation Plus Premium in the form of the kinetic first person shooter PS VR2 game Synapse and four Classics; Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, Blood Omen 2, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2.”

Both Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain and Blood Omen 2 have been included as a way to celebrate the release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered, which lands on PlayStation systems on December 10th next month.

In the case of Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2, it doesn’t seem like anything in particular inspired Sony’s decision to add them to the PlayStation Plus Premium catalogue.

Of course, that hasn’t stopped the majority of the commenters on the Twitter post announcing their inclusion from assuming the best.

“We desperately need Resistance to return…” commented @NikoGramz, “My wallet is ready for a new instalment with all our war online. At the very least I want the original trilogy remastered for modern consoles. Let’s revive this amazing franchise”.

Unfortunately, the developers of the first three Resistance games, Insomniac Games, are probably a little too busy for that at the moment - given that they’re currently working on the upcoming Marvel's Wolverine.

Still, there’s always the chance Sony might find another developer to tackle the franchise or alternatively work their way back around to it with Insomniac sometime in the future.
