Airing for over twenty-five years, South Park was a staple of many of our childhoods with the animated sitcom being both a disgusting and hilarious look at teenage boyhood. What you may not know, however, is that the sitcom led to two South Park RPGs which are available for PlayStation Plus members now.

2014 saw the arrival of South Park: The Stick of Truth, an RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment and in collaboration with South Park Digital Studios. Players take on the role of the New Kid (also known as Douchebag) who has recently moved to South Park. After befriending the local boys, he finds himself involved in an epic live action RPG game featuring wizards and warriors who must battle for the Stick of Truth.

“From the perilous battlefields of the fourth-grade playground, a young hero will rise, destined to be South Park’s savior,” reads the official synopsis. “From the creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, comes an epic quest to become… cool.

“Arm yourself with weapons of legend to defeat underpants gnomes, hippies and other forces of evil. Discover the lost Stick of Truth and earn your place at the side of Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny as their new friend. Succeed, and you shall be South Park’s savior, cementing your social status in South Park Elementary. Fail, and you will forever be known… as a loser.”

The sequel to South Park: The Stick of Truth arrived in 2017 in the form of South Park: The Fractured but Whole. Players will once again take on the role of New Kid who alongside Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman will dive into the crime-ridden underbelly of South Park.

South Park: The Stick of Truth and South Park: The Fractured but Whole are available for free for all PlayStation Plus Extra members. With The Fractured but Whole usually retailing at £47.99, this is not a deal to miss out on if you want some light-hearted RPG action.
