The monthly PlayStation Plus rotation has become a bit of a ritual for subscribers, as the news of what's included falls prey to the court of public opinion.
Happily, recent months have been pretty strong, with August a real highlight. This month saw players able to take advantage of Marvel's Spider-Man, Mortal Kombat 1, Sword of the Sea and Resident Evil 2 were all on offer, depending on what tier you had access to.
September's offering has sadly generated a little more in the way of anger from the community, but not for the reason you might expect.
Over on Reddit, PlayStation fans shared their thoughts on the confirmed Plus games for September, which include Psychonauts 2, Stardew Valley and Viewfinder. All of those are very good games, but that's proving to be the issue, as many subscribers already own all three.

"I don't know if it's an excellent month or a horrible month. I love those three games to death... So excellent month? But I love them so I own them. So.... Bad month? Lol," one read.
Another echoed that with similar thoughts, saying, "I mean, I've played them all so it's disappointing, but they're all great games. Psychonauts 2 is an absolute banger."
There was also some legitimate criticism of the fact that every game on offer was made for the PS4, rather than PS5, with none of these games having upgraded versions for the new hardware.
"Three PS4 games is crazy stuff," one user simply said.

There's no doubt that Psychonauts was genuinely pretty groundbreaking when it released in 2021, as legendary developer Double Fine Productions continued its historic run of good form. Alongside Stardew Valley and Viewfinder, all three are worth picking up if you don't have them, even if it isn't the most value for money that you'll get in the coming months.
