Certain countries need to brace themselves for a price hike to PlayStation Plus, it won’t affect everywhere but so far 15 countries will be seeing an increase.

It sucks, I know, but it’s likely not without a good reason as PlayStation Plus has been featuring more and more high profile games over the past few months.

For instance Hogwarts Legacy is joining PlayStation Plus Extra, announced yesterday

All tiers of PlayStation Plus, including Essential, Extra and Premium will see a price increase in Latin American countries.

This includes: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.

The updated prices will be as follows. Essential for one month will be $7.99, for three months it’ll be $20.99 and for 12 months it’ll be $64.99.

For one month of PlayStation Plus Extra it’ll be $11.99, for three months it’ll be $33.99, and for 12 months it’ll be $39.99.

Finally for PlayStation Plus Premium, also known as PlayStation Plus Deluxe, it’ll cost $13.99 for one month, $39.99 for three months and $124.99 for 12 months.

These prices will go into effect from 16 April, so if you want to renew before then and stock up before the price hike now’s probably the time to do so.

Sony has given a statement on the increase, blaming "global market conditions" as the reason why they’re happening.

The company went on to say it’ll "continue offering high-quality games and value-added benefits” to the subscription service as time goes on.

Again it sucks but there’s nothing that can be done about it, times seem to be tough and I’d imagine those U.S tariffs might have had a hand in Sony’s decision to bump up the price.

We’ll have to wait and see if any price increases go into effect in other countries too, hopefully know but never say never.
