A new PlayStation Plus addition is already scheduled to be shut down, which isn't the news we wanted to hear.
Recently, Sony announced its latest games included in the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscription tiers for September 2025. All in all, it offered a solid list of enjoyable games that will certainly provide plenty of bang for your buck.
For example, one of the games included is the SEGA RPG, Persona 5 Tactica, which would easily offer up to 40 hours of gameplay, and then some.
Other games included are WWE 2K25, Green Hell, Fate/Samurai Remnant, Crow Country, The Invincible and Conscript. What’s more, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers also received Legacy of Kain: Defiance.

However, for the topic of today’s discussion, it’s WWE 2K25, which was only released earlier this year on 14 March for PC, PlayStation and Xbox (it released for Nintendo Switch 2 on 23 July).
In my review of WWE 2K25, I said: “Inside the squared circle, WWE 2K25 is not only the absolute best pro wrestling game today, but it’s arguably the best pro wrestling game ever.”
Why is WWE 2K25 the topic of discussion today, I hear you ask? Well, as brought to our attention by PlayStation LifeStyle, its online servers are already scheduled to shut down on 14 March 2027.
In case you didn't know, the online servers for WWE 2K24 are also scheduled to shut down in a few months from now, on 5 January 2026. So, it seems that the online modes for this series currently have a shelf life of roughly two years.

That being said, it’s worth mentioning that all of its single-player modes, including the Showcase campaigns and Universe, as well as local multiplayer, will be accessible even when the servers are shut down.
Nonetheless, many fans will be disappointed to be locked out of traditional multiplayer matches, MyFACTION and the brilliant community creations just two years after the game launched.
Furthermore, this will also mean that ‘The Island’, a new mode introduced in WWE 2K25 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, will not be playable from 14 March 2027, with many losing in-game purchases, as well as those persona cards purchased in MyFACTION.
It’s not unusual (to be loved by anyone) for servers to shut down for games that offer online features, for series like WWE 2K and EA FC that have annual releases. After all, keeping the servers online is expensive, especially when tons of players may have moved on to the new release.

So, if you want to collect all those MyFACTION cards, finish The Island quests, and mop up those multiplayer trophies, you might want to do that sooner rather than later.
WWE 2K26 hasn't been announced yet, but its reveal is likely to be made sometime early next year.
