PlayStation Plus memberships slashed in price, finally

But, of course, there is a catch

Great news! Sony has just announced that PlayStation Plus subscriptions are officially on sale!

Bad news! You probably won’t be able to actually take advantage of the offer unless you jump through some hoops first, because Sony clearly hates their customers!

As revealed by Sony last night, the official PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 Days of Play starts today.

This yearly event contains a bunch of PlayStation-related savings, including discounts on hardware (such as PlayStation 5 Pros), games, and, you guessed it, PlayStation Plus subscriptions.

“This Days of Play, save on a new or upgraded PlayStation Plus membership – players who join PlayStation Plus during this year’s celebration can save up to 33% on select 12-month memberships”, Sony revealed on the official PlayStation Blog.

“For players who are currently a PlayStation Plus Essential or Extra member, save 33% on the remainder of your membership when upgrading to PlayStation Plus Premium/Deluxe.”

So, you’ve probably already immediately noticed the issue with this: the discount only applies to “new or upgraded PlayStation Plus” memberships.

That means if you were hoping to buy a years worth of PlayStation Plus at a third off, but you’re already an active subscriber… then you’re outta luck!

But how do the folks over on the r/PS5 subreddit feel about all this? Well, annoyed. Obviously.

“No discount for existing plus members,” commented user PolishGazelle.

“Sad reality is that they've given us loyal customers the finger for years now and well... we've done nothing about it, more or less,” replied user GRTooCool.

Honestly, I’ll never understand the mentality behind this, even though they’ve been screwing over their loyal customers like this for years at this point.

Well, actually, I do get it– Sony are just greedy and want more money. Why bother rewarding your repeat customers when you can just and make more money instead?
